Abstract:

Dramaturgii absolventských koncertů jsem zvažoval na základě několika kritérií. Při výběru skladeb jsem se snažil obsáhnout co nejvíce slohových období, tedy od baroka až po současnost. Další silné kritérium pro mne bylo, abych hrál pokud možno co nejvíc skladeb, které na půdě JAMU nikdy nezazněly, s výjimkou pro období klasicismu. Třetím výrazným prvkem, který ovlivnil můj výběr, je moje současné zaměstnání v orchestru při Vrchním velitelství NATO v Belgii, kde jsou mými kolegy samí Američané. Na druhém bakalářském koncertě jsem proto chtěl uvést skladby pouze amerických skladatelů a jako hosty pozvat kolegy z žesťového souboru NATO Brass Amabassadors, kde sám hraji 1. trubku. Posledním bohužel nevyžádaným faktorem, který hodně narušil moji koncepci koncertů, byla pandemie coronaviru, kvůli které jsem nakonec nemohl přizvat k účasti kolegy z SHAPE International Band. Kvůli dalším skutečnostem vázaným na situaci kolem pandemie jsem byl navíc průběžně nucen měnit plánovaný repertoár. Pro první koncert jsem tedy zvolil skladby z období baroka, 2. koncert pro trubku C dur od M. Haydna a z klasicismu koncert pro trubku Es dur od J. N. Hummela. Odehrány byly v opačném pořadí, protože jsem neplánoval skladby odehrát nutně v chronologickém pořadí, ale spíše jsem zvažoval nátiskové rozložení sil. Původně na koncertě měla zaznít skladba pro soubor trubek z období romantismu, ale okolnosti protiepidemických opatření mě přiměli provést skladbu J. Cage 4’33’’. Tímto výběrem jsem chtěl zejména poukázat na nemožnost umělců provozovat živé koncerty pro lidi a manifestovat tak vynucené “koncertní ticho”, ke kterému nás okolnosti donutili a znemožnili také mě osobně vystoupit před publikem. Pro druhý koncert jsem postupně ustoupil od záměru hrát pouze americké skladatele. Jelikož bylo vzhledem k okolnostem stále těžší cestovat napříč Evropou, rozhodl jsem se původně zamýšlený concert E. Ewazena pro trubku a orchestr nahradit sólovou skladbou bez doprovodu, abych neměl tolik kusů ke korepetování. Při hledání mě zaujala Suita Why Shall I Cry? Od Davida J. Langa, kterého jsem nejdříve považoval za američana, ale později se ukázalo, že se jedná o mladého současného australského skladatele. Protože mě skladba zaujala, rozhodl jsem se narušit “americký” koncept a zařadil na koncert tento sólový kus. Jediným zástupcem děl amerických skladatelů tedy zůstala Sonáta pro trubku od G. Antheila, představitele 1. pol. 20. Století. Vybraný repertoár byl dle mého soudu pro posluchače zajímavý. Jednak jsem využil pro koncerty trubky různého ladění – piccolo trubku, Es trubku, C trubku a Bb trubku; a druhak, až s výjimkou Hummelova koncertu, jsem zahrál skladby, které na JAMU pravděpodobně nikdy nezazněly. Abstract:

I considered the dramaturgy of the graduation concerts on the basis of several criteria. On the one hand, I tried, while choosing compositions, to cover as many stylistic periods as possible. That means going from the Baroque period to the present contemporary music. Another criterion important to me was to play as many pieces as possible that were never heard at JAMU, except for the period of classicism, which was not so fruitful for the trumpet. The third significant element that influenced my choice is my current job in the orchestra at Supreme Headquarter of Allies Power Europe in Belgium, because all of my colleagues there are Americans. At the second bachelor's graduation concert, I therefore wanted to present compositions by only American composers and as a guests invite my colleagues from the brass quintet NATO Brass Amabassadors, in which I currently play on the 1st trumpet chair. Unfortunately, the last unsolicited factor that greatly disrupted my concert concept was the coronavirus pandemic, which ultimately prevented me from inviting a colleagues from the SHAPE International Band. In addition, due to other facts related to the situation around the pandemic, I was constantly forced to change the planned repertoire. For the first concert, I chose compositions from the Baroque period (M. Haydn) and Classicism (J. N. Hummel). They were played in reverse order, because I didn't plan to play the songs in chronological order, but rather considered the proof distribution of forces. Originally, the concert was supposed to feature a composition from the Romantic period written for trumpets ensamble, but the circumstances of anti-epidemic measures made me perform the composition J. Cage 4 '33'. With this selection, I wanted to point out in particular the impossibility of artists to perform live concerts for people and thus manifest the forced "concert silence", to which circumstances forced us and also made it impossible for me to perform in front of the audience. For the second concert, I gradually withdrew from the intention to play only American composers. As the circumstances made it very difficult to travel across Europe, I decided to replace originally intended E. Ewazen's concerto for trumpet and orchestra with an unaccompanied solo composition, so that I wouldn’t have so many pieces to practice with piano accompaniment. I was interested in the "Why Shall I Cry?" Suite, a piece composed by David J. Lang, whom I initially considered as an American, but later I find out the is an young contemporary Australian composer. Because I was fascinated by the song, I decided to disrupt the "American" concept and included this solo piece at the concert. The only representative of the works of American composers, therefore, remained the Sonata for Trumpet by G. Antheil, a representative of the 1st half of the 20th century. In my opinion, the selected repertoire was enough interesting for the audience. On the one hand, I used various trumpets, such as piccolo trumpet, Eb trumpet, C trumpet and Bb trumpet; and on the other, with the exception of Hummel's concert, I played songs that were probably never performed at JAMU.
