Women partnership's in emerging adulthood: Infidelity in the context of attachment theory and triangular theory of love

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit a popsat souvislost mezi jednotlivými komponentami lásky (vášeň, intimita, závazek), jak je definoval v roce 1986 Robert Sternberg, úzkostností a vyhýbavostí, reprezentací nevěry a tendence k nevěře. Sběr dat proběhl prostřednictvím on-line dotazníků, vzorek tvořily ženy ve věku 18-25 let (N=403). K analýze dat byla použita metoda mnohonásobné lineární regrese. Úzkostnost, vyhýbavost a reprezentace nevěry vysvětlovaly 12, 5 % tendence k nevěře. Vášeň, intimita a závazek se v rozporu s teorií neukázaly jako její významné prediktory. Bylo také zjištěno, že skupiny s různou tendencí k nevěře mají odlišnou míru obecné spokojenosti ve vztahu a stejnou míru spokojenosti v sexuálním životě. Dále byly zjištěny rozdíly v míře závazku podle subjektivního pocitu dospělosti respondentek.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to identify and describe possible connections between components of love (passion, intimacy, commitment), as they were defined by Robert Sternberg in 1986, anxiety and avoidance, representations of infidelity and tendency to infidelity. The data were collected via online questionnaires, the sample consisted of women aged 18-25 (N=403). The method of multiple linear regression was used for the data analysis. Anxiety, avoidance and representation of infidelity explained 12.5 % tendency to infidelity. Passion, intimacy and commitment, contrary to the theory, were not found to be significant predictors. It was also found that groups with various tendencies to infidelity have different levels of satisfaction in the relationship and the same level of satisfaction in sexual life. Differences in levels of commitment were found in accordance with the subjective sense of adulthood felt by the respondents.
