Assessment of mercury content in the tissues of the common roach (Rutilus rutilus)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce řeší problematiku kontaminace rtuti u ryb, respektive plotice obecné (Rutilus rutilus) v Záskalské nádrži. Záskalská nádrž leží v lokalitě historické těžby cinabaritu, proto zde bylo očekáváno zvýšené riziko kontaminace ryb rtutí. Teoretická část bakalářské práce se věnuje shrnutí problematiky týkající se rtuti ve vodním prostředí, její přeměny a akumulace v rybách. V praktické části bylo stanoveno pomocí atomové absorpční spektrofotometrie (AMA-254) celkové množství rtuti ve svalovině, játrech, ledvinách, žábrech a v očích odlovených ryb. Obsahy rtuti v tkáních ryb klesaly v uvedeném pořadí: svalová tkáň > játra, ledviny > žábra, oči. Věk ryb neměl statisticky významný vliv na obsah rtuti v tkáních ryb. Dva vzorky rybí svaloviny obsahovaly 0,6201±0,0421 mg/kg a 0,6161±0,0305 mg/kg celkové Hg v čerstvé hmotnosti a překračovaly tak maximální povolený limit 0,5 mg/kg Hg v čerstvé hmotnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of mercury contamination in fish, respectively in common roach in the Záskalská reservoir. Near this reservoir is Jedová Mountain, which is known for its historic cinnabar mining. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the issues related to mercury in the aquatic environment, its transformation and accumulation in fish. In the practical part, the total amount of mercury in the muscles, liver, kidneys, gills and in the eyes of fish was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AMA-254). Mercury contents in fish tissues decrease in the following order: muscle tissue > liver, kidneys > gills, eyes. The age of the fish did not have a statistically significant effect on the mercury content of the fish tissues. Two fish muscle samples contained 0.6201±0.0421 mg/kg and 0.6161±0.0305 mg/kg total Hg in fresh weight, exceeding the maximum permitted limit of 0.5 mg/kg Hg in fresh weight.
