Creation of SSBI solution for incident management in a logistics company

Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce je vytvoření Self-Service Business Intelligence řešení pro Incident Management hardwarových zařízení s použitím produktů značky Microsoft Power BI v prostředí logistické společnosti. Hlavním cílem je získání funkcí, které lze využít pro přehledné analýzy a dobře informovaná rozhodnutí s možnostmi rychlé úpravy reportů na základě měnících se potřeb. K dosáhnutí cíle byla v rámci práce provedena rešerše literatury pokrývající hlavní oblasti, kterých se řešení dotýká. Dále byla zvolena a popsána metodika použita pro vytvářené řešení. Za účelem porozumění incident managementu a pochopení jednotlivých aspektů jeho řízení důležitých pro SSBI řešení následovala charakteristika prostředí. Samotné řešení je pak popsáno ve čtyřech fázích. Nejprve jsou možnosti SSBI aplikace analyzovány v rámci úvodní studie, poté následuje hlubší analýza a návrh řešení dle požadavků Incident Managementu. Po návrhu následuje fáze implementace a konečnou fází je popis zavedení do provozu na základě analýzy. V práci jsou zjištěny aspekty SSBI řešení beroucí data přímo z produkční databáze a způsoby prezentace dat pro Incident Management.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is the creation of a Self-Service Business Intelligence solution for Incident Management of hardware devices using Microsoft Power BI products in an environment of logistics company. The main goal is to obtain a solution that can be used for clear analyses and well-informed decisions with the possibility of quick adjustment based on changing needs. To achieve the main goal, the literature research was performed that was covering areas affected by the solution. Then the methodology used for the created solution was selected and described. In order to understand incident management and to get knowledge of individual aspects of its needs that are important for SSBI solution, the characteristics of the environment followed. The solution itself is then described in four phases. In first phase, the possibilities of the SSBI application are analyzed in the initial study, followed by a deeper analysis and design of solution according to the requirements of Incident Management. The design is followed by the implementation phase as well as the final phase which consists of description of the introduction of the solution to the production environment. The thesis identifies aspects of SSBI solutions taking data directly from the production database and methods of data presentation for Incident Management.
