Quality of life of seniors living in the village Obyčtov

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kvalitou života seniorů žijících samostatně ve vlastních domovech v obci Obyčtov na Vysočině. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak tito senioři subjektivně vnímají kvalitu svého současného života. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. První z nich je část teoretická, která je zaměřena na charakteristiku seniorského věku, zabývá se stárnutím a stářím, rolí seniora v rodině a také pojmem kvalita života. Též je zde okrajově zmiňována problematika rezidenčních zařízení sociálních služeb v České republice. Druhou část práce, praktickou část, tvoří popis metodologie a výzkumu, který probíhal ve formě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s osmi seniory ve věku od pětasedmdesáti do sedmaosmdesáti let, kteří žijí v obci Obyčtov; získaná data byla následně analyzována a interpretována v souvislosti s tématem práce. Výsledkem je interpretace subjektivního vnímání kvality vlastního života seniorů. Jako stěžejní pro kvalitu života je jimi uváděn především kontakt se společností a členy rodiny, jako důležitý je vnímán také fyzický stav těchto seniorů a míra soběstačnosti, která, jak senioři doufají, zůstane v přijatelné míře i nadále zachována.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the quality of life of seniors living independently in their own homes in the village Obyčtov in Vysočina. The aim was to determine how these seniors subjectively perceived quality of their present life. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is the theoretical part, which aimed at characteristic of senior age, deals with aging and old age, senior roled in the family and also quality of life. There is mentioned a marginal issue of residental social care services in the Czech Republic, too. The second part of thesis, the practical part, consists of the methodology and the research, which was conducted through semi-structured interviews with eight seniors aged 75 to 87 living in Obyčtov; the data were analyzed and interpretated in the context of the aim of thesis. The result is an interpretation of the subjective perception, how seniors judged the quality of their lives. The contact with the society and family members was especially featured as central to their quality of life, as well as importat is the perceived physical condition and self-sufficiency rate, which will be preserved, as seniors hoping to remain at an acceptable level.
