Connection of affiliation of youth to hardcore punk subculture with their interests in university education

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá souvislostmi spojujícími hardcore punkovou subkulturu s univerzitním vzděláním, konkrétně zjišťuje, jaké může být propojení mezi příslušností jedince k hardcore punkové subkultuře a jeho volbou jít či nejít studovat vysokou školu. Práce je rozdělena na tři části, na část teoretickou, část zabývající se metodologií výzkumu a část o výsledcích výzkumného šetření. V první polovině teoretické části práce popisuje vývoj univerzitního vzdělání od dvacátého století po současnost, v druhé polovině teoretické části práce je charakterizována kultura, z ní vycházející subkultury, konkrétně subkultura punk a hardcore punk. V této části jsou také informace o vývoji těchto subkultur. V části zabývající se metodologií výzkumu je popsána kvalitativní metodologie výzkumu. Jako metoda sběru dat byl zvolen hloubkový polostrukturovaný rozhovor. V poslední části práce jsou popsány výsledky výzkumného šetření. Výzkum prováděný v rámci této práce ukázal, že souvislost mezi jedincovou příslušností k hardcore punkové subkultuře a jeho volbou jít či nejít studovat je minimální. Naopak souvislost, mezi příslušností k této subkultuře a volbou oboru studia jedince se ukázala být významná. Jedinci hlásící se k hardcore punkové subkultuře volí svůj obor v závislosti na svých zájmech, které často souvisí přímo s touto subkulturou. Všichni respondenti, včetně nestudujících, přikládají vysokoškolskému vzdělání velkou důležitost.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the connection between hardcore punk subculture and university education, specifically what can be the connection between an individual's affiliation to hardcore punk subculture and his choice to go or not go to study to college. The thesis is devided into three parts, theoretical part, the part dealing with the research methodology ant the part about the results of the research. The first half of the theoretical part describes the development of university education from the twentieth century to the present, in the second half of the theoretical partcontains culture characteristics, the subcultures arising from the culture, specifically the subculture punk and hardcore punk. This part also provides information on the development of these subcultures. The part dealing with the research methodology describes the qualitative research methodology. An in-depth semi-structured 5 interview was chosen as a method of data collection. The last part describes the results of the research. Research conducted in this work has shown that the association between individual's belonging to the hardcore punk subculture and his choice to go or not go to study to college is minimal. On the contrary of it, the connection between belonging to this subculture and the choice of the field of study of the individual proved to be significant. Individuals who announce themeselves to hardcore punk subculture choose their field of study depending on their interests, which are often directly related to this subculture. All respondents, including those who do not study at university, attach great importance to higher education.
