Sibling Constellation of University of Pardubice Students

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá sourozeneckými konstelacemi, tedy tím, v jakém pořadí mezi svými sourozenci se jedinec narodil. První, teoretická část je věnována popisu sourozeneckých konstelací. Věnuje se výzkumům sourozeneckých konstelací prováděných v minulosti, proměnám rodiny, vztahům mezi sourozenci v rodině a různým faktorům, které souvisí s pořadím narození, jako je věkový rozdíl a rozdílnost pohlaví mezi sourozenci. Dále se zabývá jednotlivými typy sourozeneckých konstelací jedináček, prvorozené dítě, prostřední dítě, nejmladší dítě a dvojčata. U každého z nich popisuje typické povahové vlastnosti a profesní orientaci. Závěr teoretické části je věnován souvislostem mezi sourozeneckými konstelacemi a manželstvím. Pojednává o problémech souvisejících s pořadím narození manželů, které mohou v manželství nastat, a také o nejvhodnějších kombinacích pořadí narození. Praktickou část tvoří kvantitativní výzkum sourozeneckých konstelací prováděný pomocí metody dotazování, který se zaměřuje na to, jak pořadí narození ovlivňuje povahu jedince, výběr povolání a výběr partnera. Cílovou skupinou jsou studenti Univerzity Pardubice. Mimo to se také zabývá představami studentů o jejich budoucí rodině, konkrétně o ideálním počtu dětí a ideálním věkovém rozestupu mezi dětmi. Svým výzkumem se snažím ověřit teoretická východiska uvedená v první části, která jsem čerpala z odborné literatury.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis are sibling constellations, i.e. the significance of the order in which the siblings are born to the family. The first part is based on theoretical description of sibling constellations. It mentions several past research papers, changes in the family, relationships among siblings in the family and other factors which are related to the birth order such as age gap and gender difference among siblings. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the types of sibling constellations one by one, i.e. the only child, the first-born child, the middle child, the youngest child, and the twins. Each individual type has its typical character traits and professional orientation. In the end, this part focuses on the connections between sibling constellations and marriage; it deals with the marriage troubles which are connected to sibling constellations, and it also suggests the most suitable combinations of sibling constellations for partnership in life. In the practical part, there is a quantitative research of sibling constellations, which uses a questionnaire as its research tool. This particular part concentrates on how the birth order might influence the character traits of an individual and his/her occupational and partner choice. The target group of respondents is the selected students of University of Pardubice. Apart from that, the practical part focuses on the students' ideas about their future family, especially the ideal number of children and the ideal age gaps among the children. By means of my research, I aim to verify the theoretical statements (introduced in the former part of this thesis), which have been drawn from the academic literature.
