Analysis of cooling medium effect on mechanical properties of selected Al-Si alloys in T6 condition

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem zvoleného chladicího media v procesu tepelného zpracování (vytvrzování) na mechanické vlastnosti vybraných Al-Si slitin. Teoretická část obsahuje základní charakteristiku a vlastnosti hliníku a jeho slitin, rozdělení slitin hliníku a jejich tepelné zpracování. Pro experimentální účely v praktické části byly zvoleny slitiny AlSi7Mg0,3 a AlSi7Cu4 jako zástupci často používaných slitin v automobilovém průmyslu. Jako materiál byly použity válcové zkušební tyčky, které byly odlité do kovových forem. Zkušební tyčky byly dále tepelně zpracovány do stavu T6, což je normalizované označení stavu hliníkových slitin, jenž se skládá z rozpouštěcího žíhání a umělého stárnutí, po tomto tepelném zpracování (vytvrzování) dochází k výraznému zlepšení mechanických vlastností. Zachlazení bylo provedeno do vody a do vodného roztoku s PEG při koncentraci 10 a 20% PEG a to s variantami teplot ve všech případech (20°C, 50°C a 70°C). Pro zkoumání mechanických vlastností byla zvolena zkouška tvrdosti podle Brinella dle normy ČSN EN ISO 6506-1 (42 0359) a zkouška mikrotvrdosti podle Vickerse (se zaměřením na mikrotvrdost tuhého roztoku) dle normy ČSN EN ISO 6507-1 (42 0374).

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the influence of the selected cooling medium in the proces of heat treatment (curing) on the mechanical properties of selected Al-Si alloys. The theoretical part contains the basic characteristics and properites of aluminium and aluminium alloys, the distribution of aluminium alloys and their heat treatment. For experimental purposes in the practical part, AlSi7Mg0,3 and AlSi7Cu4 alloys were chosen as representatives of frequently used alloys in the automotive industry. Cylindrival test rods were used as materiál, which were část into metal molds. Te test rods were further heat treated to the T6 state, which is a standardized designation of the state of aluminum alloys, which consists of solution annealing and artificant aging, after this heat treatment (curing) there is a significant improvement in mechanical properties. Cooling was performed in water and in aqueous solution with PEG at concentration of 10 and 20% PEG with temperature variations in all cases (20°C, 50°C and 70°C). The Brinell hardness test according to ČSN EN ISO 6506-1 (42 0359) and the Vickers microhardness test (focusing on solid solution microhardness) according to ČSN EN ISO 6507-1 (42 0374) were chosen to examine the mechanical properties.
