Petr Varmuža and Folk Oratorio St. John Passion

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřená na významnou osobnost Petra Varmuži a jeho skladbu Janovy pašije. Práce obeznámí čtenáře s dosavadním uměleckým směřováním Petra Varmuži, jeho kariérou primáše Brněnského rozhlasového orchestru lidových nástrojů a jeho skladatelským vývojem, jehož dosavadním vrcholem se stalo dílo Janovy pašije. Tato skladba spojuje prvky hudební formy oratoria a moravské lidové písně. Stěžejní část práce se zaobírá zkoumáním pojmu lidové oratorium, který autor používá jako podtitul pro svou skladbu. Vzhledem ke zpracovávanému pašijovému příběhu se tato práce dále věnuje historii duchovních her a jejich vlivu na formu oratoria a lidové duchovní písně. Poslední kapitola se zabývá podrobným pohledem na skladbu Janovy pašije a její složky očima Petra Varmuži, recenzentů a autorky bakalářské práce, která na základě vlastní zkušenosti s prováděním díla nabízí možný způsob interpretace altového partu.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the important personality of Petr Varmuža and his composition of St. John Passion. The thesis acquaints readers with the current artistic direction of Petr Varmuža, his career as the first violinist of Brno Radio Orchestra of Folk Instruments and his compositional development, the culmination of which has been the work of St. John Passion. This composition combines elements of the oratorio musical form and Moravian folk songs. The main part of the thesis deals with the study of the concept of folk oratorio, which the author uses as a subtitle for his composition. Due to the Passion narrative, which is adapted to this piece, the thesis also deals with the history of Mystery plays and their influence on the form of oratorio and folk spiritual songs. The last part of the thesis deals with a detailed look at the composition of St. John Passion and its components through the eyes of Petr Varmuža, the reviewers and the author of this bachelor's thesis, who offers a possible way of interpreting the alto part based on her own experience with performing the piece.
