Development of libraries in Plasy

Abstract:

Úkolem bakalářské práce je popsat plaské knihovnictví, které se datuje od založení plaského kláštera až po současnost. V historické části charakterizuje cisterciácký řád, jeho klášterní archiv a klášterní knihovnu a dále pak vývoj Metternichovského rodinného archivu a Metternichovskou knihovnu. Rovněž se zabývá novodobou historií, ve které je popsán vývoj knihoven v Plasích od roku 1921 do současnosti. Zde je postižen význam obecní knihovny, na ni navazující okresní knihovny a konečně také současné městské knihovny. Cisterciáckou klášterní knihovnu a knihovnu kancléře Metternicha spravovaly soukromé subjekty, které knihovny rozšiřovaly do velkých rozměrů. Cisterciáci pečovali o svoji knihovnu po dobu svého působení v Plasích po celých 640 let. Metternich zvelebil město a v klášteře vybudoval vlastní sídlo a vlastní knihovnu, kterou převážně používala princezna Pavlína. V novodobé historii knihovny financuje město. Knihovny se staly veřejnými a poskytují informační a knihovnické služby. Bakalářská práce popisuje a hodnotí vývoj knihoven, které jsou spjaty s městem Plasy.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor´s thesis is to describe the librarianship of Plasy, which emerged when the Plasy monastery was founded and is still in existence. The historical part of the work characterizes the Order of Cistercians, the monastery archive and monastery library, and also the development of archive and library of the family of Metternich. It is also concerned with the modern history and describes the development of libraries in Plasy since 1921 up to present. It shows the importance of the municipal library, the follow-up district libraries and also the toady?s municipal library. The Cistercian monastery library and the library of Chancellor Metternich were administrated by private subjects, who broadened the libraries to a large extent. The Cistercians have been taking care of their library during their activity in Plasy for 640 years. Metternich has brought the town to prosperity and built his own residence and library in the monastery. The library was used mainly by princess Pauline. In the modern history, the libraries are financed by the town. The libraries became public and provide information and library service. The bachelor´s thesis describes and evaluates the development of libraries connected with the town of Plasy.
