Rakovník in the light of the Great War

Abstract:

Bakalářské práce mapuje významnou část historie města Rakovník. Pozornost je věnována dějinným událostem let 1914-1918. Hlavním východiskem se staly jednotlivé fenomény válečných let typické pro české zázemí. Práce zjišťuje, jaký měly vliv na obyvatele města a jak na ně reagovali. Mezi tyto stěžejní události, týkající se celozemského dění, patřily bezesporu dopady mobilizace, všeobecné bídy a nedostatku. Dále například reakce na smrt mocnáře a nástup nového panovníka. Neopomíjíme však ani dopady španělské chřipky. Tyto a další aspekty války jsou postupně interpretovány a následně komparovány s pramennou základnou. Jedna z otázek je také směřována na formu zapsaného. Jinými slovy sledujeme nejen to, že o události prameny informovaly, ale také jakou formou se tak dělo.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis maps an important part of the history of Rakovník. The focus is on the historical events of the years 1914-1918. The main starting point is the individual phenomena of the war years typical for the Czech hinterland. The thesis investigates how they affected the inhabitants of the town and how they reacted to them. Among these key events concerning the whole country were undoubtedly the effects of mobilisation, general poverty and shortages. Then, for example, the reaction to the death of the monarch and the accession of the new monarch. However, the impact of the Spanish influenza is also not neglected. These and other aspects of the war are gradually interpreted and then compared with the source material. One question is also directed at the form of the inscribed. In other words, we observe not only that the sources reported the event, but also in what form it was reported.
