Philosophy of Existence by Karl Jaspers

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce je zaměřena na filosofii existence, konkrétně na Karl Jasperse, významného psychiatra a filosofa 20. století, který je považován za jednoho z nejdůležitějších představitelů moderní filosofie existence. Úvod práce je zaměřen na filosofii existence obecně, srovnání názorů několika filosofů a jejich pojetí existence. První kapitola je věnována významnému filosofu 19. století, na kterého Jaspers navazuje, S?renu Kierkegaardovi. Kierkegaard je zde uveden jako ?otec? filosofie existence, jako filosof, na kterého navazovali nejvýznamnější představitelé existenciální filosofie: K. Jaspers, J. P. Sartre nebo M. Heidegger. Další část práce se zabývá filosofií Karl Jasperse, zkoumá Jaspersovy základní pojmy, které v jeho myšlení nabývají specifického významu, jsou to základní filosofické termíny jako: existence, transcendence, šifra, mezní situace. Práce vychází především z jeho děl: Duchovní situace doby, Šifry transcendence a Úvod do filosofie, z jeho dalších děl a ze sekundární literatury.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the philosophy of existence, concretely on Karl Jaspers, a great psychiatrist and philosopher of the 20th century, who is considered to be one of the most important representatives of the philosophy of existence. The introduction puts our mind to the philosophy of existence in general. The first chapter is devoted to S?ren Kierkegaard, a great philosopher of the 19th century, whom Jaspers followed. Kierkegaard is presented here as a ?founding father? of the philosophy of existence, as some one, whom the most important representatives of the philosophy of existence followed: Jaspers, Sartre or Heidegger. The next part of the thesis deals with Karl Jaspers, examines the basic Jaspers´ principles that take a different meaning in his mind, it is the basic philosophical principles: existence, transcendence, cipher, ultimate situation. The thesis mainly draws from his writings: The spiritual situation of our time, An introduction to philosophy, Ciphers of transcendence, from his other writings and from the secondary literature.
