Definition of the target group concept - seniors

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá důsledky populačního stárnutí obyvatelstva pro segmentaci spotřebitelského trhu s důrazem na cílovou skupinu senioři. V teoretické rovině diplomová práce vymezuje pojem senior a souvislosti spojené se stářím a stárnutím člověka. Analyzuje zvláštnosti marketingové komunikace zaměřené na tuto cílovou skupinu. Zabývá se společenským vnímáním segmentu třetího věku a věnuje se sociálním podmínkám a začlenění seniorů do současné společnosti, jejich vnímáním a interpretováním stáří, a to nejen v kontextu spotřeby a reklamy, ale i mezigeneračních vztahů. V analýze sekundárních dat zahraničního i dvou českých výzkumů poukazuje na specifika spotřebitelského chování seniorů a na přístup marketingových profesionálů k tomuto segmentu potencionálních zákazníků. Výsledkem je interpretace výsledků sekundární analýzy - velikost, kupní síla, heterogenita této cílové skupiny a přizpůsobení se marketingové komunikace specifickým potřebám tohoto segmentu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the consequences of population aging for the segmentation of the consumer market emphasizing the target group of seniors. On a theoretical level, the diploma thesis specifies the term ‘senior’ and its connections to old age and the process of human ageing. The thesis analyses marketing communications specifics in relations to this segment. It deals with the social perception of the third age and it pays attention to social conditions and to the process of integration into the current society; it deals with the concept of perception of seniors and interpretation of old age not only in the context of consumption and advertising but within the frame of intergeneration relations. In the secondary data analysis focusing on one foreign and two Czech research projects, the thesis highlights the specifics of social behaviour of seniors and marketing professionals’ attitude to this segment of potential customers. The result consists in the interpretation of the secondary data analysis – size, purchasing power, and heterogeneity of this target group as well as modification of marketing communications to the specific needs of this segment.
