The difference in expectations of the first-time mothers and the reality of childbirth

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem Rozdíl v očekávání prvorodičky a realitou u porodu se zabývá tím, jak si prvorodičky představují porod a jaké od něho mají očekávání. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. Teoretická část je literární rozbor aktuálních poznatků, které se týkají možností předporodní psychoprofylaxe, druhů porodů, doprovodu ženy u porodu, psychiky a komunikace s ženou v těhotenství a při porodu. Praktická část shrnuje kvalitativní průzkum zaměřený na pocity, dojmy a emoce žen. Cíle práce jsou zjistit očekávání prvorodiček od porodu a následně, jak se tato očekávání lišila od reality u porodu. Z výsledku průzkumu vyplývá, že očekávání jsou silně ovlivněna kvalitou předporodní psychoprofylaxe a nejvíce dojem z porodu ovlivňuje personál, se kterým se žena setká, a to ne z hlediska jejich odborných znalostí, ale dle komunikace a schopnosti empatie.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis entitled "The difference in expectations of the first-born and the reality of childbirth" deals with how first-time mothers imagine childbirth and what expectations they have from it. The work consists of two parts. The theoretical part is a literature analysis of current knowledge concerning the possibilities of antenatal classes, types of childbirth, a woman's companion during childbirth, her psychological state, and communication with a woman during pregnancy and childbirth. The practical part summarizes a qualitative survey focused on the feelings, impressions, and emotions of women. This thesis aims to find out the expectations of first-time mothers around childbirth and subsequently how these expectations differed from the reality at childbirth. The results of the survey show that expectations are strongly influenced by the quality of antenatal classes and the impression of childbirth is most affected by the staff the woman meets, not in terms of their expertise, but in terms of communication and empathy.
