Analysis of the comics Lucky Luke

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis concerns the beginnings and the historical development of comics as a literary medium. Apart from theoretical observations, the thesis contains a linguistic analysis of the comics Lucky Luke which represents a significant cultural heritage of the Franco-Belgian literature. On the basis of the examined albums, the concrete linguistic elements found in the given comics are identified and defined. In order to enhance the practical outcome of the thesis, the analysis also contains the translated phenomena extracted from the Czech version of the comics, with potential suggestions concerning the translation.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o zrodu a historickém vývoji komiksu jako literárního média. Kromě teoretických poznatků práce obsahuje především analýzu řeči v komiksu Lucky Luke, který představuje významný kulturní odkaz pro francouzsko-belgickou literaturu. Na základě zkoumaných alb jsou excerpovány a definovány konkrétní jazykové jevy vyskytující se ve vybraném komiksu. Pro zajištění většího praktického přínosu práce zahrnuje analýza rovněž překlad elementů v české verzi díla a případné návrhy na jeho vylepšení.
