Mimetic complex of arthropods of the Formica type: species richness and phenotypic similarity

Abstract:

Předmětem studia této práce je mimetický komplex červeno-černých členovců typu Formica. Teoretická část této práce je složena z literární rešerše na téma aposematismu, mimeze a mimetických komplexů. V rámci rešerše uvádím příklady dosud popsaných mimetických komplexů a příklady studií zaměřených na mimetické vztahy myrmekomorfních druhů. Na základě literatury uvádím seznam druhů potenciálně patřících do mimetického komplexu typu Formica. V praktické části u 22 druhů tohoto komplexu měřím a hodnotím parametry zbarvení, tvaru těla a pohybu. Pohyb je hodnocen na základě videozáznamů pohybu odchycených jedinců. Tvar těla je hodnocen pomocí specializovaného programu a digitálních fotografií vypreparovaných jedinců. Zbarvení jedinců bylo měřeno pomocí spektrofotometru. Výsledky této práce pak nabízí srovnaní zkoumaných druhů ve sledovaných parametrech.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is a mimetic complex of red-black Formica type arthropods. The theoretical part of this thesis is composed of a research in literature on the topic of aposematism, mimesis and mimetic complexes. In the research I present examples of mimetic complexes described so far and examples of studies focused on the mimetic relationships of myrmecomorphic species. Based on the literature, I list the species potentially belonging to the Formica type mimetic complex. In the practical part of the thesis I measure and evaluate parameters of coloring, body shape and movement of 22 species from this complex. Movement is assessed based on video recording of captured specimen. The shape of the body is evaluated using a specialized program and digital photos of specimen. The color of the studied species was measured using a spectrophotometer. The results of this thesis offer the comparison of studied species in measured parameters.
