Indetification of factors that influence risk of ICO investment

Abstract:

Investování do kryptoměn se stalo v posledních letech fenoménem, který oslovil masu drobných investorů, kterým umožnil investovat a obchodovat bez účasti prostředníka. Jednou z forem těchto investic je tzv. Initial coin offering, jenž lze připodobnit k crowdfundingu. Ze své rané podstaty je tato oblast velmi riziková a investoři, kteří v této oblasti působí, jsou vystavováni hrozbám, jenž je obtížné identifikovat. Cílem této práce je poodhalit faktory, které jsou schopné míru rizika jednotlivých investic ovlivňovat a tím přispět ke zvýšení gramotnosti investorů, rozšíření znalostí tohoto tématu a návrhu dalších námětů ke studiu. Pro dosažení cílů této práce byla zvolena metoda polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorů s investory, kteří v této oblasti působí. Zdrojem pro sestavení otázek byla zpracovaná literární rešerše, včetně přehledu dostupných studií na toto téma. Závěrečná diskuse nad výsledky výzkumu přinesla řadu zjištění v oblastech technologie, marketingu a lidských a informačních zdrojů, které utváří podobu Initial coin offering. V těchto oblastech byly identifikovány faktory, které zvyšují či snižují míru rizika investice. Diplomová práce přinesla nová zjištění a zároveň potvrdila výsledky jiných studií.

Abstract:

In recent years, investing in cryptocurrencies has become a phenomenon that has attracted a mass of retail investors. This phenomenon has allowed them to invest and trade without the intermediary. One form of this investment is the Initial coin offering, which can be likened to crowdfunding. From an early point of view, this area is very risky, and investors operating in this area are exposed to threats that are difficult to identify. The aim of this master thesis is to reveal the factors that can influence the risk of individual investments and thus contribute to increasing the literacy of investors, extending the knowledge of this topic and proposing further ideas for study. In order to achieve the objectives of this thesis, the method of semi-structured depth interviews with investors operating in this area was chosen. The source of the questions was the elaborated literary research, including an overview of recent studies on this topic. The final discussion of the research results has produced several findings in areas of technology, marketing, and human and information resources that shape Initial coin offering. Factors that increase or decrease the risk of investment have been identified in these areas. The thesis brought new findings and confirmed the results of other studies.
