Anotácia:

Cílem práce je porovnat české překlady amerických indiánských legend na základě určených problematických oblastí, které se mohou vyskytovat právě v textech s odlišným kulturním kontextem. Předpokladem je, že každý z překladatelů se při překládání textu a především jeho problematických částí drží určité strategie. Záměrem komparativní analýzy je tedy zjistit, zda tomu tak skutečně je, případně jak se tyto strategie mohou promítnout do konečného vyznění, pochopitelnosti a informativnosti překládaného textu. Práce také obsahuje teoretický úvod, jehož cílem je ve zkratce přiblížit překladatelský proces, vliv kulturního pozadí originálního textu na problematičnost překladu a metody, které se v takovém případě dají využít. Část teoretického úvodu je také věnována legendám samotným – charakteru, významu a obsahovým prvkům indiánských mýtů a legend a krátkému představení vybraných legend, které byly součástí komparativní analýzy.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to compare Czech translations of selected American Indian legends on the basis of chosen problematic aspects, which might appear in the texts with a different cultural context. The analysis is based on the assumption that each of the translators uses a particular strategy when dealing with these problematical parts of a cultural text. The main aim of the comparative analysis is to find out whether this assumption is correct or not, eventually to reveal how these strategies can influence the final impression, understandability and informativeness of the translated text. The thesis also contains a theoretical introduction, which shortly introduces the process of translation, the influence of the cultural background of the original on the intricacy of the translation and the methods, which can be used in these cases. One part of this theoretical introduction is also dedicated to the legends themselves – their characteristics, function and content and the introduction of selected legends, used for the purpose of the comparative analysis.
