Comparing approaches to different issues of teaching singing in Czech publications

Abstract:

Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá historickým vývojem hudební výchovy (resp. zpěvu) v českých zemích od jejích počátků po konec 19. století a nabízí srovnání se současnou podobou školních hudebních aktivit. Hlavní část práce tvoří analýzy a komparace vybraných významných literárních publikací zaobírajících se otázkami techniky a metodiky zpěvu. Rozebírá nejranější české tištěné hudební traktáty (z počátku 16. až počátku 19. století) a všímá si popisovaných doporučení určených zpěvákům. Pozornost je též věnována hudebněmetodickým publikacím z 19. století zaměřeným na výuku zpěvu ve školním prostřední. Poslední část disertační práce analyzuje pěveckometodické knižní tituly 20.–21. století zaměřené na sólový zpěv. Seznamuje nás s názory a metodami významných českých pěvkyň a pěvců, v mnoha případech zároveň vynikajících pedagogů, kteří ve svých písemně zaznamenaných poznatcích zúročili zkušenosti z vlastní dlouholeté praxe.

Abstract:

The presented dissertation deals with the historical development of music education (or singing) in the Czech lands from its beginnings to the end of the 19th century and offers a comparison with the current form of school music activities. The main part of the work consists of analyses and comparisons of selected major literary publications dealing with issues of technique and methodology of singing. It analyses the earliest Czech printed musical treatises (from the beginning of the 16th to the beginning of the 19th century) and takes note of the described recommendations for singers. Attention is also paid to publications on music methodology from the 19th century focused on teaching singing in the school environment. The last part of the dissertation analyses the books on methodology of singing of the 20th and 21th century focused on solo singing. It acquaints us with the opinions and methods of important Czech singers, in many cases at the same time excellent teachers who, in their written knowledge, used the experience from their own long-term practice.
