Art Brut as a Phenomenon of Psychology and Art History

Abstract:

Cílem práce je poskytnout základní všeobecný přehled týkající se historie a současné situace art brut v rámci evropského kontextu. Důraz je přitom kladen především na zmapování projevů, reflexe a vývoje art brut v České republice. Práce se zaměřuje na vymezení pojmu art brut a objasnění historických okolností, jež vedly k jeho formulaci. Představeny jsou též příbuzné termíny a jejich vztah k art brut. Výklad o světovém vývoji se zaměřuje zejména na tvorbu duševně nemocných. Část práce, jež pojednává o vývoji v České republice, se zaměřuje především na tvorbu spiritistických médií. Práce podává též přehled o současné situaci art brut v Evropě a v České republice. Představeni jsou nejvýznamnější autoři, instituce a aktivity spojené s art brut.

Abstract:

The aim of the paper is to offer a basic general insight about the history and contemporary status of the art brut in the European context. Emphasis is put especially on the manifestation, the reflection and the development in the Czech Republic. The paper defines the term art brut and clarifies the historical circumstances which led to its formulation. Related terms and their relation to the art brut are introduced as well. Exposition about the development in the world focuses on the mentally ill people production. Part of the paper which deals with the development in the Czech Republic is focused especially on the production of the spiritistic media. The paper presents an overview about the contemporary status of the art brut in the Europe and the Czech Republic as well. The most significant authors, institutions and activities related to the art brut are introduced.
