Story as inspiration for jewellery

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o spojení šperku a příběhu. Dále je práce ukázkou toho, jak se autorka inspirovala japonskými lampiony a jejich výrobou při vytváření nových ojedinělých objektů v médiu šperku. Výslednými objekty je 25 kusů ve třech různých kolekcích za použití bambusu a papíru. Kolekce objektů se liší v procesu zpracování jednotlivých bambusů. Hlavní inspirace japonskými lampiony pomohla k rozboru výroby bambusové konstrukce, která je založena na svazování bambusů k sobě. Dále technikou nanášení japonského papíru Washi na sestavenou konstrukci. Objekty vytvořené v této práci vychází z konstrukce japonských lampionů Chouchin, ale samotné objekty jsou povzneseny dále pro médium šperku. Papír Washi zde hraje roli, jak použít inspiraci, tak aby se promítla v médiu šperku a zároveň byla použitelná pro nošení. Výsledné objekty jsou složeny z bambusů ohýbaných do ostrých úhlů, a tak vytvořených specifických spirál. Tyto spirály jsou poté k sobě připevněny a místa spojení jsou speciálním způsobem svázána z nití jdoucích proti sobě a tím vzniknou dekorativní křížky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is about the connection between jewellery and story. Furthermore, the thesis is an example of how the author was inspired by Japanese lanterns and their production to create new unique objects in the medium of jewellery. The final objects are 25 pieces in three different collections using bamboo and paper. The collections of objects differ in the process of processing each bamboo. The main inspiration of Japanese lanterns helped to analyze the production of the bamboo structure, which is based on tying the bamboos together. Furthermore, the technique of applying Japanese Washi paper to the assembled structure. The objects created in this work are based on the construction of Japanese Chouchin lanterns, but the objects themselves are elevated further for the medium of jewellery. Washi paper plays a role here to use the inspiration so that it can be projected in the medium of jewellery while still being wearable. The resulting objects are composed of bamboo bent at acute angles to create specific spirals. These spirals are then attached to each other, and the points of connection are tied together in a special way with threads running against each other to create decorative crosses.
