Work Ability and its measurement by Work Ability Index (on examples of existing studies)

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou pracovní schopnosti a jejího měření. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část popisuje teoretický základ konceptu pracovní schopnosti v kontextu demografického stárnutí a stárnutí pracovní síly. Dále popisuje teoretické aspekty měření pracovní schopnosti se zřetelem na použití konkrétního nástroje, jímž je Index pracovní schopnosti, Work Ability Index (WAI). Empirická část přináší na příkladech vybraných studií, jež měří pracovní schopnost, informace o významu využití tohoto nástroje v měření pracovní schopnosti, o účelech, pro které se tento nástroj v měření využívá a o základních výsledcích, které použití Indexu pracovní schopnosti přináší. V této části je též popsán metodologický postup analýzy zkoumaných studií a jsou interpretovány výsledky výzkumného zjištění. V závěrečné diskusi jsou pak zjištěná data porovnána s teoretickými poznatky a jsou předloženy návrhy pro další zkoumání.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with work ability and its measurement by Work Ability Index, WAI. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part describes a theoretical baseline for the concept of work ability within the demographical changes, which goes in line with the demographic and workforce ageing. Furthermore, it depicts the theoretical aspects of work ability measurement by means of WAI, which is an instrument used in clinical occupational health and research to access work ability of employees. The empirical part of this thesis uses selected examples of existing studies which have measured work ability by means of WAI and brings information on the significance, objectives and particular findings on the measurement of work ability which is based on the analysis of the selected studies. By means of confrontation of the findings with the theoretical baseline, the discussion part offers suggested proposals for further research.
