Strategic planning in the development of city centers on the example of city Manchester

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na strategické plánování v rozvoji městských center na příkladu města Manchester. V teoretické části práce jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy, popsány smršťující se města a příčiny jejich smršťování, dále pak popsán proces jejich regenerace a řízení. V dalších částech je popsáno strategické plánování rozvoje území a zároveň také strategické plánování rozvoje na úrovni měst v ČR. V empirické části je popsáno město Manchester, jeho historický vývoj a geografická charakteristika. Následně je zkoumán celý proces plánování území Manchesteru a na základě získaných informací jsou popsány opatření vedoucí k rozvoji v oblastech dopravy, bydlení, práce, životního prostředí, technologií a vzdělávání. Na základě nabytých poznatků bylo zjištěno, že největší vliv na rozvoj tohoto města má bydlení a doprava. V závěru zkoumání celého procesu rozvoje města Manchester jsou pak navrženy implikace pro strategické plánování v České Republice.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on strategic planning in the development of city centers on the example of the city of Manchester. In the theoretic part of this thesis are explained the basic concepts, the shrinking city and the causes of their shrinkage, then describes the process of their regeneration and management. The next sections describes the strategic planning of the development of the territory and also the strategic planning of the development at the city level in the Czech Republic. In the empirical parts describes the city of Manchester, its historical development and geographical characteristics. Subsequently, the entire Manchester territorial planning process is examined and from the information obtained are described action to develop in the areas of transport, housing, work, environment, technology and education. From these acquired knowledge was found that housing and transport have the greatest influence on the development of the city. At the end of the research of the whole development process of the city of Manchester are then suggested implications for strategic planning in the Czech Republic.
