Rural enviroment of boarder area between Moravian mountains and lowlands. Cultural landscape and vernacular architecture

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá kulturní krajinou a tradičním stavitelstvím v kontaktní oblasti nížinné a horské části Moravy – oblast sníženin klínovitě uzavřených mezi pohoří Karpat a Jeseníků, zastoupené přechodnými etnografickými oblastmi mezi regiony Hanou a Valašskem Jedná se o starou sídelní oblast, osídlenou již před 11. stoletím s důležitou evropskou tranzitní funkcí. Další sídla pochází zejména z období následné vnitřní kolonizace a pozdější velké kolonizace (13. a 14. století). Pozoruhodný je charakter řady lokalit s původně obrannou funkcí s návsí dříve uzavřenou branou. Celkově v dochované kulturní krajině nacházíme relikty spíše příslušející středověku, než krajině barokní. Celá oblast byla zemědělská s takřka kompaktním bezlesím. Lesy pozůstaly pouze na nejhůře dostupných místech. V oblasti mírné pahorkatiny se dařilo také ovocnářství, které utváří dodnes krajinný ráz. Kolem návsi se rozprostíraly selské usedlosti. Geneticky nejvyspělejší formou byl rozlehlý čtyřboký nebo trojboký statek s okapním průčelím. V okrajových oblastech se dochovala jednodušší forma štítové orientace usedlostí, avšak podélně orientované usedlosti jsou doloženy už v raném novověku. Původním stavebním materiálem bylo dřevo, které je doloženo už jen výjimečně. Dřevo se ve většině oblasti na konstrukce stěn staveb přestávalo používat již od počátku 19. století nejen kvůli postupným modernizacím, ale také z důvodů protipožárních daných legislativou. Specifikem bylo podélné štípání kmenů, jako archaická technologie, původně zastoupená na daleko širším teritoriu. Architektonické prvky usedlostí nelze vývojově klasifikovat od nejjednodušších forem k složitým. Je patrné, že některé architektonické detaily zanikaly již před převratnými změnami venkovského života a stavitelství v polovině 20. století, kdy proběhla dramatická změna politického režimu. Pro práci byl využit terénní výzkum více než 100 vesnic a dále rozsáhlé literární a archivní rešerše. Zjištění mohou být aplikovány v ochraně kulturního dědictví.

Abstract:

This work is focused on the cultural landscape and vernacular architecture in the contact zone of the lowlands and mountains of Moravia - the area of lowlands wedge-shaped between the Carpathians and Jeseníky Mountains, represented by transitional ethnographic areas between regions Haná and Wallachia. It is an old settlement area, inhabited before the 11th century with an important European transit function. Other settlements come mainly from the period of internal colonization and later great colonization (13th and 14th centuries). The character of a number of localities with an originally defensive function with a village square previously closed by a gate is remarkable. Overall, in the preserved cultural landscape we find relics belonging to the Middle Ages rather than the Baroque landscape. The whole area was agricultural with almost compact forest-free. Forests remained only in the least accessible places. In the area of gentle hills, fruit trees growing also prospered, which still forms a landscape character. Farmsteads stretched around the village square. The most genetically advanced traditional form was a large quadrangular or triangular farm with a gutter facade. In the peripheral areas, a simpler form of gable orientation of homesteads has been preserved, but longitudinally oriented homesteads are documented in the early modern period as well. The original building material was wood – mainly fir and oak. This material is documented only exceptionally. In most areas, wood has not been used for the construction of building walls since the beginning of the 19th century, not only due to gradual modernizations, but also due to fire-fighting reasons imposed by legislation. The specificity was the longitudinal splitting of logs, as an archaic technology, originally represented in a much wider territory. The architectural elements of homesteads cannot be developmentally classified from the simplest forms to complex ones. It is evident that some architectural details disappeared even before the revolutionary changes in rural life and architecture in the middle of the 20th century, when a dramatic change in the political regime took place. Field research of more than 100 villages as well as extensive literary and archival research were used for the work. The findings can be applied in the protection of regional cultural heritage.
