GPU-accelerated computer simulation of complex liquid

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá počítačovými simulacemi prováděnými pomocí technik GPGPU na grafické kartě. Jejím cílem je otestovat dva zvolené simulační balíčky, LAMMPS a HOOMD-blue, které jsou určeny pro simulace molekulární dynamiky, v závislosti na použité architektuře, a poukázat tak na výhody a nevýhody jednotlivých balíčků. Pro testování balíčků byly zvoleny simulace jednoduché a komplexní tekutiny. V průběhu simulací byly zkoumány některé vlastnosti balíčků: počet časových kroků za sekundu v průběhu simulace, vytěžování výpočetních prostředků grafické karty či rozdělení výpočetních prostředků mezi více paralelních simulací. Výsledky byly zpracovány a následně interpretovány.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with computer simulations performed by using techniques GPGPU on the graphics card. The aim is to test two simulation packages, LAMMPS and HOOMD-blue, which are designed for molecular dynamics simulation. This testing will be performed depending on the architecture and it will point out to the advantages and disadvantages of the packages. The simulations of simple and complex fluids were chosen for the testing of the packages. Some properties of the packages were monitored during the simulations: the number of time steps per second, GPU utilization or allocation of computing resources among multiple parallel simulations. The results were subsequently processed and interpreted.
