Comparison of the sister/-s in the novel Till we have faces by C. S. Lewis and in Apuleius' Metamorphoses

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá srovnáním jednání a rolí, které hrají sestry hlavní hrdinky ve dvou verzích příběhu o Amorovi a Psýché. První verzí, kterou předkládaná bakalářská práce sleduje, jsou Apuleiovy Proměny a druhou je román Dokud nemáme tvář od C. S. Lewise. V další části se bakalářská práce zaměřuje na krátké shrnutí děje obou zmíněných děl, na představení sester a na hledání příčin jejich jednání. V poslední části bakalářská práce zkoumá podobnosti a odlišnosti obou děl a věnuje pozornost srovnání Apuleiových a Lewisových sester.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the actions and roles played by the sisters of the protagonist in the two versions of the story of Cupid and Psyche. The first version, which the present bachelor thesis follows, is Apuleius' The Metamorphoses and the second is the novel Till We Have Face by C. S. Lewis. In the next part, the bachelor thesis focuses on a short summary of the plot of both mentioned works, on the introduction of the sisters and on the search for the reasons for their actions. In the last part, the bachelor thesis examines the similarities and differences of the two works and pays attention to the comparison between Apuleius' and Lewis' sisters.
