Motivation and authority in guides of scout groups

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o rádcích skautských družin a jejich popisu zkušeností se svou rolí autority. Zároveň hledá, jak rádci chápou svoji motivaci a co je pro ně motivující. Kapitoly teoretické části popisují motivaci, její zdroje, dělení a motivaci u dobrovolníků. Také obsahují informace o autoritě, její typologie a roli ve vzdělávání. Výzkum se zaměřuje na rádce jako přirozenou autoritu v družině a jejich motivaci ke skautské činnosti. Pomocí interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy odhaluje, že rádci nevykonávají tuto činnost za vidinou odměny, ale kvůli zlepšení svých schopností a dovedností. Jejich autorita je postavena na principu kamarádství a přistupují ke své roli velmi zodpovědně. Chápou, že rádce je ovlivnitel svých svěřenců a k této skutečnosti přistupují tvorbou vlastních pravidel chování.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is concerned with the guides of scout groups and with their description of the experience with their authority role. At the same time, the thesis seeks to find how the guides understand their motivation and what is motivating for them. The theoretical part of this thesis describes motivation, its sources, classification and volunteers’ motivation. It also contains information about the authority, its typology and the role in education. The research is concentrated on the guides as the natural group authority and on their motivation for doing the scout work. It uses the interpretative phenomenological analysis to unveil that the guides do not become the guides for their own well-being or for a reward but to improve their abilities and skills. Their authority is based on the principle of friendship and they approach their role very responsibly. They understand that the role of a guide is to influence the members of their unit and thus they create their own rules for behaviour.
