Benefits and risks of working in coworking centres

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem coworkingu. Zaměřuje se především na možné přínosy a rizika, která vyplývají z práce v coworkingových centrech. Pozornost je věnována rovněž základním sociodemografickým charakteristikám coworkerů. Teoretická část práce objasňuje flexibilizaci na trhu práce, definuje pojem flexibilního pracovního úvazku a blíže se zaměřuje na práci z domova a teleworking. V závěru teoretické části je věnována pozornost provedeným výzkumům na téma coworking s bližším zaměřením na zjištěné přínosy a rizika práce v coworkingových centrech. Metodika práce vychází z kvalitativní strategie za použití nestandardizovaného rozhovoru. V závěru práce jsou diskutována hlavní zjištění týkající se přínosů a rizik práce v coworkingových centrech z hlediska jejích členů. Výsledky výzkumu ukazují, že z hlediska přínosů se zjištění neshodují s deklarovanými přínosy z jiných výzkumů. Čestí coworkeři za největší přínos považují klid na práci a pracovní řád. Naopak riziko spatřují v nedostatku soukromí a rušení ostatními jedinci.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of coworking. Especially, it is focused on the potential benefits and risks arising from working in coworking centers. The basic sociodemographic characteristics of coworkers are mentioned as well. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the flexibilisation of the labor market, definition of the flexible employment relationship and a closer focus on homeworking and teleworking. The end of the theoretical part deals with the researches of coworking with a closer focus on the identified benefits and risks of working in coworking centers. The methodology is based on a qualitative strategy and used non-standardized interview. The conclusion discusses the main findings on the benefits and risks of working in coworking centers from the perspective of its members. The results of this study indicate that in terms of benefits, the findings do not match with the declared benefits of other research in this field. Czech coworkers expect the greatest benefits of coworking to be the calm work environment and the working discipline coworking centres facilitate. In contrast, the coworkers interviewed in this study experience see the risks in the lack of privacy and distractions from other individuals.
