Fantasy based on PC games in publishing house Fantom Print

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je věnována produkci ostravského nakladatelství Fantom Print, konkrétně segmentu fantasy knih, založených na počítačových hrách. V teoretické části se zabývá pojmem fantasy, jeho historií a případnými podžánry. Následně se bude soustředit na zmíněné nakladatelství, jeho historii a také to, na jakou část knižního trhu se specializuje. V analytické části se pak zaměří na komparaci literárního díla a jeho herní předlohy. Práce se zaměří nejen na míru autorské invence, ale i kvalitu literárního díla jako specifického (a od počítačových her značně odlišného) média. Literární teorie poslouží jak při analýze knih, tak počítačových her. Cílem práce je poukázat na rozvíjející se žánr herní fantasy a uplatnit na něj existující literární postupy.

Abstract:

This bachelor's work is about the publishing work of the publishing house Fantom Print from Ostrava, specifically department that releases fantasy books based on video games. Theoretical part is focused on the concept of Fantasy, it's history and it's subgenres. Next, it's focused on the publishing house, it's history and also the part of the publishing market it's focused on. In analytical part it's focused on comparison between the book and the video game version. This work will not only focus on the amount of the authors ability of invention, but also the quality of the literary work as of the specific medium (which is much different from the video game work). Literary theory will serve for the anylysis of books, and also video games. The purpose of this work is to show the development of the genre of gaming fantasy and apply onto it existing literary procedures.
