Development of communication skills of artificial intelligence

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá změnou paradigmatu v oblasti verbální komunikace člověka se strojem a umělou inteligencí. Média již mnoho let slouží jako zprostředkovatel komunikace, ale v době umělé inteligence přibírají novou roli. Stávají se navíc producentem obsahu, tedy komunikátorem. Cílem diplomové práce je zmapovat nejzásadnější změny v interakci s autonomně komunikujícím strojem, ke kterým dochází v důsledku vývoje umělé inteligence a jejích rolí. Tyto změny jsou formou přehledové studie zasazeny do širšího teoretického i kulturní kontextu, který se zaměřuje na dobu od poloviny 20. století, tedy období vzniku prvního chatbota, a dále mapuje postupný vývoj až po současné významné chatboty, kteří již byli nebo jsou dostupní veřejnosti. Zřetel je brán také na to, jak člověk tuto komunikaci vnímá, co ho k ní motivuje a jak ji sám ovlivňuje. Diplomová práce pomocí výzkumů konkrétních autonomních komunikátorů vytváří obraz změn, ke kterým v oblasti interakce s umělou inteligencí dochází a naznačuje možné směřování dalšího výzkumu v oblasti komunikace člověka se strojem.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the change of the paradigm of verbal communication between people, device, and artificial intelligence (AI). The media has functioned as an intermediary of communication for many years. Nevertheless, in the age of the AI, they are taking on a new role. They are becoming a producer of the content, a communicator. The thesis aims to chart the most fundamental changes in interaction with an autonomously communicative device, which are caused by the development of the AI and its roles. These changes are presented in the form of a research study and are set into the wider theoretical and cultural context which is focused on the period from the mid 20th century, i.e. the period of the birth of the first chatbot. It then charts a progressive development up to the modern important chatbots which had been or are accessible to the public. The human perception of this kind of communication, the motivation for it and how people influence it are also taken into consideration. Thanks to the researches of the concrete autonomous communicators, the diploma thesis creates an image of changes made in the field of the interaction with AI. It also indicates a possible direction of another study in the field of human-device communication.
