Adam Smith and Economy of Public Sector

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the work of Adam Smith, regarding the issue now falling within the study of economy of public sector. The work is divided into four parts. The first section provides the necessary historical context. The second one, which describes Smith´s life, focuses on the personalities that influenced his work. The core of the work is the third part, which deals with Smith’s views on various areas of public sector with reference to various interpretations of his views, or different views of his contemporaries. The final fourth section describes Smith´s influence on the subsequent generations of economists.

Abstract:

Predmetom tejto diplomovej práce je analýza tvorby Adama Smitha týkajúcej sa problematiky dnes spadajúcej do oblasti skúmania ekonómie verejného sektoru. Táto práca je rozdelená na štyri časti. Prvá časť opisuje potrebné historické súvislosti a druhá Smithov život so zameraním na osobnosti, ktoré ovplyvnili jeho tvorbu. Jadro práce tvorí tretia kapitola, ktorá sa venuje Smithovým názorom na rôzne oblasti verejného sektoru s poukazom na rôzny výklad týchto názorov, alebo na odlišné názory jeho súčasníkov. Záverečná štvrtá časť charakterizuje Smithov vplyv na nasledujúce generácie ekonómov.
