The structure of headlines in English newspapers
Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with the structure of headlines in English serious newspapers. The primary aim of this work is to determine the most frequently used grammatical structures which occur in headlines and compare them to standards followed in English common core. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá strukturou novinových titulků v britském seriozním tisku. Hlavním cílem této práce je na základě 160 náhodně vybraných autentických titulků stanovit nejčastěji se objevující gramatické struktury a dále porovnat jejich odlišnosti oproti běžným standartům anglického jazyka. Součástí práce je i překlad vybraných titulků do českého jazyka.
