Russo-Georgian conflict - Discourse analysis of Russian governments and media interpretation of the conflict

Abstract:

Rusko-gruzínská válka: diskurzivní analýza ruské vládní a mediální interpretace konfliktu Bakalářská práce zkoumá rozdíly mezi ruskou vládní interpretací a mediální interpretací rusko-gruzínského konfliktu v době jeho průběhu, a také v těsném období před a po konfliktu. Co se týká ruských médií, tak jsou zde k nalezení podstatné rozdíly mezi tím, co chce vláda, aby si veřejnost myslela, a tím, jaká je skutečná pravda. Tak jako i v jiných zemích zde najdeme v pozadí schované jisté mocenské vlivy a aspekty, ale v Rusku jsou tyto mocenské hry více patrné. Práce dokazuje, že existují velké rozdíly mezi těmito dvěma interpretacemi, a zabývá se těmito konkrétními rozdíly v návaznosti s analýzou toho, proč zde tento nesoulad nacházíme, a komu může sloužit.

Abstract:

Russo-georgian war: discourse analysis of Russian governments and media interpretation of the conflict This Bachelor thesis investigates a difference between two sorts of interpretation, which is governments interpretation and media interpretation of the conflict. The analysis is based on the articles published in the time of the conflict and in the immediate period before and after the conflict. In the Russian media we can find substantial differences between the facts, which government wants public to think and the facts, which are indeed true. As like in other countries we can find out some power influences, but in Russia they are more evident. The Bachelor thesis proves that there are truly big differences between these two interpretations and it deals with these differences following the analysis why it is here and to whom it may serve.
