Cultural aspects of the Congress of Vienna

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nabízí analýzu kulturního dění na Vídeňském kongresu v letech 1814-1815, který byl nejen setkáním evropské politické elity, ale také příležitostí k propagaci moci zde zastupovaných států v čele s Rakouskem. Kulturní rovina sehrála v průběhu kongresu mimořádně významnou roli v reprezentaci jednotlivých osob, zájmových skupin i států. Projevila se v architektuře, malířství i hudbě, a to jak v rovině krásného, tak i užitého umění. Kulturní aktivity byly dílem jednotlivých umělců i organizované činnosti vládnoucích elit. Navzdory nepopiratelnému významu kongresové "kulturní politiky" nebyla v českém prostředí tomuto tématu věnována větší pozornost. To se pokusí plánovaná diplomová práce doplnit, a to s použitím dostupných pramenů z oblastí kultury, písemných pramenů a zejména odborné literatury v anglickém a německém jazyce.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis offer an analysis of cultural events at the Congress of Vienna in 1814-1815, which was not only a meeting of the European political elite, but also an opportunity to promote the power of the states represented here, led by Austria. During the congress, the cultural level played an extremely important role in the representation of individuals, interest groups and states. It manifested itself in architecture, painting and music, both in terms of beautiful and applied art. Cultural activities were the work of individual artists and organized activities of the ruling elites. Despite the undeniable importance of congress "cultural policy", this topic was not given more attention in the Czech environment. The planned diploma thesis will try to supplement this, using available sources from the fields of culture, written sources and especially professional literature in English and German.
