Emptiness

Abstract:

Cílem praktické části této práce je vytvořit multimediální instalaci zobrazující prázdno. Výsledek je dosažen zkoumáním pojmu prázdna, možnými způsoby jeho zobrazení a zjišťováním, co evokuje pocit prázdna. Řešení otázek bylo dosaženo filozofickým bádáním a zkoušením různých návrhů virtuálních prostorů. Prázdno ze své přirozené podstaty nemůže být samo o sobě zobrazeno, a proto je evokováno krajinou pouště. Teoretická část se zabývá zkoumáním různých přístupů k práci s panoramatickými obrazy a virtuální realitou. První kapitola je stručným popisem vývoje virtuální reality. Jsou zde zmíněna díla významných autorů, kteří buďto byli průkopníky nebo mě svou tvorbou zaujali. Druhá kapitola popisuje použitý postup při tvorbě sférického panorámatu a potřebné programy a přístroje. Poslední třetí kapitola se zabývá samotným pojmem prázdna. Vysvětluje, co je to prázdno, co působí prázdně a způsob zobrazení. Dále uvádí úvahy, které mě dovedly k znázornění prázdna jako pouště.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to create a multimedia installation displaying emptiness. The result is achieved by exploring the concept of emptiness, the possible ways of displaying it and examining what evokes a feeling of emptiness. The solutions to the questions was achieved through philosophical research and testing various virtual environment designs. The emptiness of its inherent nature, can not be displayed itself and therefore it is evoked in instalation by desert landscape. The theoretical part examines different approaches to work with panoramic images and virtual reality. The first chapter is a brief description of the development of a virtual reality. There are mentioned works of an important authors, who either were pioneers or theirs work intrigued me. The second chapter describes the procedure used in the creation of a spherical panorama and needed programs and devices. The last chapter deals with the actual concept of nothingness. It aslo explains the considerations, that led me to the representation of emptiness as a desert.
