Analysis of brain tissue load during stereotactic radiosurgery

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je určit maximální velikost ložiska v mozku, které je vhodné pro ozáření v jedné frakci s ohledem na dodržení toleranční dávky do okolní mozkové tkáně. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části jsou popsány typy mozkových nádorů, mozkové metastázy a jejich léčba. Dále je popsáno přístrojové vybavení jak konvenční, tak stereotaktické. V části praktické zkoumáme, jak velká metastáza může být, abychom ji mohli ozářit v jedné frakci. Bylo vytvořeno pomyslné ložisko a hledají se hraniční hodnoty.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the maximum size of the brain lesion that is suitable for irradiation in one fraction with respect to the tolerance dose to the surrounding brain tissue. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the types of brain tumours, brain metastases and their treatment. Furthermore, both conventional and stereotactic instrumentation is described. In the practical part, we investigate how large a metastasis can be in order to irradiate it in one fraction. An imaginary lesion has been created and we look for thresholds.
