The issue of procrastination among students of grammar school

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce nesoucí název "Problematika prokrastinace u gymnaziálních studentů" se primárně zabývá novodobým fenoménem, kterým je prokrastinace. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na obecná fakta týkající se time managementu, novodobých výzkumů a objasňuje především pojem prokrastinace. Stěžejním bodem této práce je odhalení příčin, které nejčastěji v jedincích prokrastinaci vyvolávají. K realizaci praktické části práce byl vybrán výzkumný vzorek, a to konkrétně studenti gymnázií na Ostravsku. Pro dosažení kýžených výsledků a splnění cílů byla použita univariační a bivariační analýza. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jak adolescenti nakládají se svým časem a v jaké míře u nich probíhá prokrastinace, tedy chorobné odkládání povinností a důležitých úkolů. Celkem se do výzkumu zapojilo 340 studentů gymnázií. Výsledkem této práce je zjištění, že se prokrastinace v tomto středoškolském prostředí objevuje velmi často. Studenti dále nevěnují přípravě do školy velkou pozornost a často povinnosti spojené se studiem nahrazují jinými činnostmi. Jestli si však studenti tento zlozvyk ponesou i do dalších životních etap, o tom bychom mohli jen spekulovat. Zadané cíle této práce byly řádně splněny.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis called "The ussie of procrastination among students of grammar school" is primarily dealing with the new age phenomenon, which procrastination is. Theoretic part of this work is focused on general facts related to time management, new age research and most of all explains the term of procrastination. The main point of this thesis was to expose the causes or reasons, that mostly initiate procrastination by individuals. For the realization of the practical part of the thesis was chosen a research sample, namely the students of grammar schools in the Ostrava region. To achieve the desired results was used an univariate and a bivariate analysis. The main goal of this thesis was to find out how adolescences deal with their time and to what extent procrastination is taking place ie. excessive postponing of duties and important tasks. In total 340 students of grammar schools took place in this research. As a results of this work, the finding is that procrastination often occurs in the secondary school environment. In addition to this students do not pay attention the preparation of school and are often replacing it with other activities. However, we could only speculate about if the students are going to carry this bad habit to other stages of their lives. The specified objectives of this work have been met.
