Práca sa zaoberá otázkou vstupu Turecka do Európskej únie z religionistickej perspektívy, preto analyzujeme vzťahy islamu a štátu od konca Osmanskej ríše spojené s reformátorom Mustafom Kemalom Atatürkom, ktorý sa snažil o westernizáciu krajiny.
