Literary Character of Capitain Nemo in the Czech Context

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl prezentovat zájem o práci s literární postavou kapitána Nema v kontextu české tvorby. V první části představíme tvůrce této fiktivní postavy, Julese Vernea. Objasníme autorovy osobní inspirace a touhy, kterými byl ovlivněn v průběhu své tvorby, ale také odhalíme osobnost kapitána Nema samotného. V části druhé, studiem jednotlivých oblastí uměleckého zájmu, převážně však literární a filmové, prozkoumáme jakým způsobem a za jakým účelem bylo s touto postavou pracováno českými tvůrci, ale také proč jsme my příjemci po něm neustále dychtiví, stále nás okouzluje a s potěšením se k němu vracíme.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to present the interest of working with literary character Captain Nemo in context of Czech literature. In the first part, Jules Verne, the author of this fictional character, will be introduced. Author´s personal inspirations that influenced the process of his writing will be clarified, as well as the personality of Captain Nemo himself will be discovered. In the second part, through the analysis of individual artistic areas, especially literary and film areas, it will be examined how and for what purpose this charakter was worked with by Czech writers. We will also explain reasons why we, readers, are ceaselessly eager for him, why we still feel enchanted and come back to him with joy over and over again.
