Jindřich Chalupecký, the literary critic

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce je analýza literárních kritik Jindřicha Chalupeckého s ohledem na jeho komplexní teoretickou práci zabývající se moderním umění ve 30. a 40. letech 20. století. První část práce se na obecné rovině zabývá autorovým pojetím kritiky, jejími kritérii a funkcí a zároveň představuje jeho nároky a požadavky na moderní umění a zejména poezii ve vztahu k autorově uměleckému směřování a tehdejší době i společnosti. Druhá polovina již diskutuje jednotlivé literární kritiky Jindřicha Chalupeckého publikované v daném období s ohledem na kritéria stanovená v předcházející části. Práci uzavírá návrh na výbor Chalupeckého literárně-uměleckých kritik a esejů rozdělen do čtyř oddílů, které prezentují autorův postupný názorový vývoj v oblasti poezie a umění.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor's thesis is an analysis of Jindřich Chalupecký's literary critics with regards to author's other theoretical works about modern art in the 1930's and 1940's. The first part of this thesis deals with author's concept of criticism, its criteria and function on a general basis and presents his requirements for and demands on modern art and especially on poetry in relation to author's artistic orientation as well as the era and society at that time. The second part discusses Jindřich Chalupecký's particular literary critics published in the period of time following the criteria defined in the previous part. The thesis is closed with the proposal of the anthology of Chalupecký's literary critics and other theoretical works about art and poetry. The anthology is divided into four sections which represents author's gradual development of his demands on poetry and art as a whole.
