Interventions focused on reducing anxiety and depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:

Cílem přehledové bakalářské práce bylo analyzovat intervence, které se zaměřují na redukci symptomů úzkosti a deprese u pacientů s CHOPN. Tento cíl dále rozdělen na dva dílčí cíle. Prvním dílčím cílem bylo zjistit, jaké jsou účinky nefarmakologických intervencí na úzkost a depresi u pacientů s CHOPN. Druhým cílem bylo zjistit, jaké další účinky u pacientů s CHOPN mají vyhledané nefarmakologické intervence. Pro sběr dat byly použity vybrané elektronické databáze a knihovny v českých a zahraničních zdrojích (EBSCO, Medline, BiblioMedica, CINAHL). Nalezené relevantní práce byly důkladně vyhodnoceny dle stanovených výzkumných cílů a zvolených kritérií. Bylo vybráno jedenáct studií se zaměřením na již zmíněné téma této závěrečné práce. Nejčastěji se jednalo o dechovou rehabilitaci, která skutečně u pacientů působila pozitivně na psychické problémy a nejen na ně. Také se zlepšila kvalita života a sebedůvěra, díky nimž se celkové hodnocení úzkosti a deprese u pacientů s CHOPN snížilo. Kromě dechové rehabilitace byla ve vědeckých studií zkoumaná také kognitivně behaviorální terapie, která měla taktéž pozitivní účinky. Z této bakalářské práce plyne, že nefarmakologické intervence mají pozitivní efekt pro pacienty s chronickou obstrukční plicní nemocí trpícími úzkostmi a depresemi.

Abstract:

The aim of this barchel's thesis was to analyse interventions that aim to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in patients with COPD. This objective was further divided into two sub-objectives. The first sub-objective was to determine the effects of non-pharmacological interventions on anxiety and depression in patients with COPD. The second sub-objective was to determine what other effects the retrieved non-pharmacological interventions have in patients with COPD. Selected electronic databases and libraries in Czech and foreign sources (EBSCO, Medline, BiblioMedica, CINAHL) were used for data collection. The relevant papers found were thoroughly evaluated according to the set research objectives and selected criteria. Eleven studies were selected focusing on the aforementioned topic of this thesis. The most frequent were respiratory rehabilitation studies, which indeed had a positive effect on the psychological problems of the patients and not only on them. It also improved quality of life and self-confidence, which reduced the overall ratings of anxiety and depression in COPD patients. In addition to respiratory rehabilitation, cognitive behavioural therapy has also been investigated in scientific studies and has also had positive effects. This thesis suggests that non-pharmacological interventions have a positive effect for COPD patients suffering from anxiety and depression.
