Abstract:

Disertační práce Ctibor Turba, pedagogika v mimickém a komediálním divadle si klade za cíl představit asi největší přínos této legendy pro české divadelnictví, a to jeho práci pedagogickou. Turba totiž jako student slavné školy francouzského mima Jacquesa Lecoqa, pomocí metody zaměřené na pohyb a gesta, rozvíjí svou vlastní metodiku herecké práce mima nebo komického herce. Zde je potřeba udělat jakousi odbočku a pojmenovat specifikum pantomimy jako žánru, definovat její základní pojmy, co a jakým způsobem, pomocí jakých prostředků pantomima zobrazuje. Základním materiálem je tu totiž lidské tělo, to je prostředkem výrazu. Obecně u nás jde o opomíjené téma: pantomimě, ať už jejím dějinám, teorii či metodice práce, se u nás takřka nikdo nevěnuje a zásadní knihy z této oblasti dosud čekají na přeložení. Má práce si samozřejmě neklade za cíl zmapovat či katalogizovat českou pantomimu nebo vědu o pantomimě, nevyhne se ale pokusu definovat její specifika coby žánru. Podstatnou část práce tvoří sumář mé osobní zkušenosti s výukovou metodou Ctibora Turby, u kterého jsem absolvovala bakalářské studium v plném rozsahu, a mohla jsem jeho přístup k pedagogické práci pozorovat jak zblízka, tak zakusit sama na sobě. Semestr po semestru se vyjevují základní pravidla Turbovy práce se studenty a pomocí různých cvičení, vycházejících ať už z pozorování a vnímání přírody, nebo studia lidského chování, se formují budoucí návyky a dovednosti. Od obecných přírodních nebo lidských modelů chování se ve třetím semestru přechází ke konkrétnějším hereckým zadáním – k práci s maskou, ke studiu komedie dell'arte a k analýze a stavbě gagu. Součástí Turbovy pedagogické činnosti je i seznamování se s historií žánru, ať už jde o romantickou pantomimu deburaovského typu, imaginární pantomimu Marcela Marceaua, anebo o japonské frašky kjógen. Tedy od abstrakce, práce s tělem a gestem, po konkrétní zadání. Poučení žáci pak pracují na prvních pokusech o komediální tvorbu, na své absolventské práci. Součástí studia – což je ve světovém kontextu také naprosto ojedinělé – je propojení s filmovou tvorbou. Paralelně probíhá studium filmových technik, při kterém studenti pracují na fotofilmu a pixilaci, vytvářejí screenboardy a postupně i krátké filmy, studují techniku filmového gagu a možnosti propojení filmu a divadla, tedy Radokovy principy. Turbova metoda, jak jsem ji zažila a jak ji chápu, je velmi komplexním přístupem, poučeným minulostí, který pomocí cvičení rozvíjí imaginaci a uvědomění si a kontrolu vlastního těla. Cílem mé práce je popsat a přiblížit tuto metodu širší veřejnosti, proto jsou součástí práce i rozhovory se Ctiborem Turbou, který je pro mě klíčovou osobností české pantomimy – pro laiky bohužel neznámou a odborníky přehlíženou, podobně jako celý žánr, který představuje. Jako základní interpretační diskurs jsem zvolila kvalitativní přístup za použití biografického designu, dále narativního designu a specifické metody životní historie.

Abstract:

My diploma thesis Ctibor Turba and Pedagogy of Mimic and Comedy Theatre aims to introduce the personality and work of a legend of Czech art of pantomime, Ctibor Turba. It describes the artistic development of this iconic figure in the context of Czech and world mime. At the same time, it deals with the biggest contribution of this legend to Czech theatre – Ctibor Turba's pedagogical work. Turba as a student and follower of the famous French school of mime and its director, a famous mime Jacques Lecoq, uses his method, focused on movement and gesture, and creates his unique way to teach acting in pantomime or comedy. There is a need to do some sort of pause and define elemental concepts of pantomime: what, how and with what means, pantomime shows. The basic material is a human body – that is a tool of expression. Pantomime is a neglected subject in the Czech Republic in general. Nobody does research about its history, theory or methodology of work. Fundamental books from this field are still waiting to be translated. The thesis doesn't aim to map or catalogue the Czech pantomime but it cannot avoid an attempt to define its specifics as a genre. The essential part of the thesis is constituted by author's personal experience with Ctibor Turba's teaching method. I passed the bachelor’s degree so I could experience his pedagogical method thoroughly and try it personally. Basic rules of Turba's work with students are revealed a semester after semester – those rules and exercises are based on nature observation and perception or on human behaviour exploration. Through these exercises further habits and skills are formed. Students are proceeding from common natural or human models of behaviour to the more concrete acting tasks – i. e. work with a mask, study of classic commedia dell'arte or analysis and structure of a gag. An explanation of the genre's history is a part of Turba's method as well – including a romantic pantomime of 19th century known from Deburau, imaginary pantomime by Marcel Marceau, or Japanese farces called kjógen. It means that the method goes from an abstraction, work with a body and gesture to a concrete task. Part of studies is also constituted by a movie production, which is something unique in the context of world theatre studies. In parallel with acting studies, students work on film techniques studies – a photo movie and pixilation, on making storyboards and short movies, they study a technique of “movie gags” and possibilities of connections between movies and theatre work – which means principles used by a famous Czech director Alfred Radok. Turba's teaching method, as understood from his practical work with students, is a complex approach, learned by history, cultivating an imagination and awareness of actor's own body as well as full control of it. The aim of my thesis is a description of the method and the presentation of it to a wider public. That is why interviews with Ctibor Turba himself form a part of the thesis – he is a crucial figure of Czech pantomime, in spite of the fact he is unknown to laymen and ignored by experts – like the genre he represents. As the basic interpretational discourse, I choose the qualitative approach with the means of biographic design, narrative design and the method of specific life-story.
