Racism in France

Abstract:

The thesis deals with racism in contemporary France and racist behavior towards people with African roots. The introduction of the theoretical part presents and explains the terminology used in this work. Furthermore, the history of the French colonies in relation to France is presented, which still influences the current coexistence of people of different races. Subsequently the theoretical part is divided into individual subchapters according to specific sections, where it is pointed out what racism is based on, and where it may occur. All of the information above is connected with the practical part of the work. It consists of the output of a survey and interviews attended by people with African roots living in France. The information obtained includes the personal experiences of the respondents. The intention of my work was to evaluate and point out the issue and the incidence of racism in France.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rasismem v současné Francii a zejména rasistickým chováním k lidem s africkými kořeny. V teoretické části je vysvětlena terminologie, která je v této práci použita. Dále je představena historie francouzských kolonií v Africe ve vztahu k Francii, která stále ještě ovlivňuje aktuální soužití lidí různých ras. Následně se teoretická část člení do jednotlivých podkapitol dle konkrétních úseků, kde je poukázáno na čem je rasismus založen a kde se může vyskytnout. Na konci této kapitoly jsou uvedeny skupiny, které, dle teorie, více inklinují k rasistickému smýšlení. Všechny uvedené informace jsou propojeny s praktickou částí práce. Ta je tvořena výstupem z ankety a rozhovorů, kterých se zúčastnili lidé s africkými kořeny žijící ve Francii. Cílem práce bylo nastínit a zhodnotit problematiku a míru výskytu rasismu ve Francii.
