Abstract:

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts, whose contents are mutually interdependent. The first part is closer insight into the venerable life of Benjamin Franklin, great American thinker of the eighteenth century, natural philosopher and inventor, printer, journalist and diplomat, founder of the United States of America and especially a creator of better tomorrows in Philadelphia in the age of Enlightenment. The second part gives an insight into Philadelphia of these days. It is a sort of tourist guide to important places in the city, which are associated with Franklin and his life.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se skládá ze dvou částí, jejichž obsah je vzájemně propojen. Podstatou první části je bližší náhled do úctyhodného života Benjamina Franklina, velkého amerického myslitele osmnáctého století, přírodního filozofa a vynálezce, tiskaře, publicisty a diplomata, zakladatele Spojených států amerických a zejména stvořitele lepších zítřků Filadelfie doby osvícenství. Druhá část přináší pohled na Filadelfii dnešních dnů. Je jakýmsi turistickým průvodcem po významných místech ve městě, která jsou spjata s Franklinem a jeho životem.
