The Position of the Senate in the Political System of the Czech Republic: Quantitative Analysis

Anotácia:

Tato práce si klade za úkol zkoumat postavení Senátu Parlamentu v politickém systému České republiky prostřednictvím kvantitativních nástrojů. Samotné kvantitativní analýze předchází vysvětlení teorií horních komor a jejich následné aplikování na případ Senátu PČR. Na základě aplikování teorií horních komor v českých podmínkách autor přichází s teoretickým odůvodněním existence české horní komory Parlamentu. Pomocí zmíněné kvantitativní analýzy je pak zkoumáno, zda Senát PČR roli, která legitimizuje jeho existence, skutečně plní.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to examine the position of the Senate of the Parliament in the political system of the Czech Republic by using quantitative tools. An explanation of the theories of upper chambers and their subsequent application to the case of the Senate precede the quantitative analysis itself. The author comes up with a theoretical justification for existence of the Czech upper chamber of the Parliament based on application of the theories of the upper chambers in Czech conditions.A performance of the role by which the existence of the Senate is actually legitimized is then examined using the above-mentioned quantitative analysis.
