Archetype Golem or Beyond the Borders of the Classic Legend

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on an analyses of the Golem character as a literary archetype. Although the Golem as an archetype appears in different forms and adaptations in the course of time, its message – even when hidden – remains the same. The main goal is to reveal the message and to find out, what the Golem wants to tell us. To reach the heart of archetype, its different adaptions have to be examined and the real meaning of the word Golem has to be found. On the basis of discovered meanings and themes, which the legend carries from the past, it is possible to formulate the real message of this archetype.

Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce je analýza postavy Golema jako literárního archetypu. Ačkoli se Golem jako archetyp objevuje v průběhu dějin v různých formách a zpracováních, jeho poselství – i když skryté – zůstává stejné. Cílem této práce je toto poselství odhalit a zjistit, co nám chce Golem sdělit. Aby bylo možné dostat se až k jádru archetypu, je třeba nejprve prostudovat jeho různá zpracování a zjistit pravý význam slova Golem. Na základě zjištěných významů a motivů, které si sebou legenda nese z minulosti, je pak možné to pravé sdělení formulovat.
