The Differences Between the Stage Manager of the Ballet and the Stage Manager of the Drama at the National Theatre in Brno

Anotácia:

Tématem bakalářské práce jsou rozdíly ve funkci profesionálního inspicienta baletu a profesionálního inspicienta činohry v Národním divadle Brno. Bakalářská práce byla založena na předpokladu existence rozdílností mezi uvedenými profesemi, jež do jisté míry vylučují možnost snadné výměny pozic baletní/činoherní inspicient. Na základě řízených rozhovorů, pozorování, studia odborné literatury a dekompozice z vnitřních směrnic Národního divadla Brno byla tato hypotéza potvrzena. Práce předkládá definice pojmů inspice a inspicient, popisuje umělecké soubory Národního divadla Brno, zařazení inspicientů do jeho organizační struktury a jejich náplň práce. Pracovní náplň a rozsah zodpovědnosti inspicientů je dále zkoumán v rámci jedné baletní a jedné činoherní inscenace. Funkce obou inspicientů je porovnávána z hlediska rozdílností ve zkouškovém procesu, požadavků na jejich pozici, zodpovědnosti, povinností a časového vytížení.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis deals with differences between the professional stage manager of ballet and the professional stage manager of drama at the National Theatre in Brno. It is based on the hypothesis that there are some differences between these posts, which rules out the easy interchange of the ballet stage manager and the drama stage manager. The hypothesis was confirmed on the basis of interviews, observation, study of the specialized literature and excerpts from the internal documents of the National Theatre in Brno. This work deals with the definitions of stage management and stage manager, describes the artistic companies of the National Theatre in Brno and the inclusion of the stage managers within its structure and what they do. What they do and responsibilities are researched within the framework of one ballet production and one drama production. The post of both stage managers is compared from the point of view of the rehearsal process, requirements, responsibility, duty and workload.
