Predictive models of insolvency risk for the corporations

Abstract:

The presented thesis is devoted to predict future financial situation of companies, closely connected with their insolvency risk. The topic of this work is also to examine factors which affect a bankruptcy. The whole work is made in the Czech Republic area and by this taking into account characteristics of the local business environment. At the beginning we have defined theoretical foundations for development of predictive models. These are created by econometrics methods of logistic regression analysis. From the database we have built models with one- and two-year forecast horizon. We have also examined if specification of models improve the discriminatory power. We have performed comparison of results with traditional bankruptcy models, frequently quoted in publications of Czech authors. At the end we have proposed suggestions for model development in the future.

Abstract:

V predkladanej diplomovej práci sa venujeme predikcii budúcej finančnej situácie spoločností a s tým súvisiace odhalenie rizika ich insolvencie. Predmetom práce je tiež preskúmanie faktorov, ktoré úpadok ovplyvňujú. Celá práca je tvorená v prostredí Českej republiky, čím berie v úvahu charakteristiky miestneho podnikateľského prostredia. Po tom čo sú v úvodných kapitolách vymedzené teoretické východiská sa dostávame k samotnému jadru práce a to tvorbe predikčných modelov. Tie sú tvorené pomocou ekonometrických metód logisitickej regresnej analýzy. Z databázy sme vytvorili modely s jednoročným a dvojročným horizontom predikcie. Zároveň sme skúmali, či špecifikácia modelu prinesie zlepšenie diskriminačnej sily. Porovnanie výsledkov sme uskutočnili s tradičnými modelmi predikcie úpadku, citovanými v publikáciách českých autorov. Záverečná časť práce obsahuje návrhy pre tvorbu modelov do budúcnosti.
