German heroic epos. The Song of the Nibelungs - character analysis of the main figures in the key moments of the story.

Abstract:

In my diploma thesis „German heroic epic. The Song of the Nibelungs - character analysis of the main figures in the key moments of the story“ I focus on a German medieval epic - The Song of The Nibelungs. The introductory chapter is characterized by the medieval period, which is connected with the origin of the epic. The following chapters are applied to the origin of the epic and preserved manuscripts, concept and art of narration in verses, as well as the content of the songs. The most important part of the diploma thesis is a comprehensive chapter describing the characteristics of the figures and motivations leading to their specific behaviour and significant symbols and their interpretation and development of the figures course of the story. The goal of the work is the interpretation of behavior and deep analysis of the acting persons in key moments - from the approximation of Siegfried and Kriemhild, fight with Brunhild on Iceland, Brünhild´s defeat at the wedding night, a queens quarrel, a murder of Siegfried, the second marriage of Kriemhild with the king of Huns - Etzel to climax moment in the form of a bloody Kriemhild´s revenge, which results in the destruction of the Nibelungs.

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci „Germánský hrdinský epos. Píseň o Nibelunzích - analýza hlavních postav v klíčových momentech děje“ se zabývám německým středověkým eposem, Písní Nibelungů. V úvodní kapitole je charakterizováno období středověku, které souvisí se vznikem eposu. Další kapitoly jsou věnovány vzniku eposu a zachovaným rukopisům, koncepci a formě vyprávění ve verších, jakož i obsahu této písně. Nejdůležitější část diplomové práce představuje obsáhlá kapitola popisující charakteristiky postav a pohnutky vedoucí k jejich specifickému chování a významné symboly a jejich interpretace a vývoj postav v průběhu děje. Cílem práce je interpretace a hlubinná analýza jednajících osob v klíčových momentech - od sblížení Siegfrieda a Kriemhild, boj s Brünhildou na Islandu, přemožení Brünhildy o svatební noci, hádka královen, zavraždění Siegfireda, druhý Kriemhildin sňatek s hunským králem Etzelem až po vrcholný okamžik v podobě krvavé Kriemhildiny pomsty, která má za následek zánik Nibelungů.
