History and the Present State of the Graphics Collection of the Olomouc Archbishopric

Abstract:

Přes svou nespornou kvalitu a rozsah nebyla doposud věnována grafické sbírce, uložené v kroměřížském zámku, patřičná pozornost. Tento fakt zapříčinila zejména skutečnost, že až na úzký okruh odborníků o její existenci široká veřejnost nevěděla. Cílem mé bakalářské práce bylo shromáždit co nejvíce informací o sbírce, pokusit se nastínit z dostupných materiálů její historii, popsat veškerou dostupnou evidenci a porovnat, zda údaje v ní zaznamenané se shodují se skutečným stavem sbírky. Do 30. let 20. století nebyl grafický soubor nikým popsán. Tento nedostatek odstranil až Antonín Breitenbacher. Jde o osobu pro naši sbírku natolik významnou, že se mu věnuji v samostatné kapitole. Práci uzavírá katalog, kdy ke každému albu či sloze náleží samostatné heslo se stručnou charakteristikou. Výstupem mé práce není zhodnocení sbírky po stránce uměleckohistorické a podrobný popis jednotlivých grafických listů.

Abstract:

In spite of its undisputable quality and extent, due attention has not been paid up until now to the collection of graphics stored at the Kroměříž castle. This was caused especially by the fact that, except for a narrow circle of specialists, the broader public has not known about its existence. The purpose of my bachelor work was to gather as much information about the collection as possible, to try to outline its history from the available materials, to describe all available record-keeping and to find out whether the data contained in the registers correspond to the actual state of the collection. Until the thirties of the 20th century, the collection of graphics had not been described by anyone. This deficit was removed only by Antonín Breitenbacher. He is a person so important for our collection that I dedicated a separate chapter to him. My work is concluded with a catalogue, in which each album or folder has an independent entry with a brief characteristics. The output of my work is neither an evaluation of the collection from the art-historical point of view nor a detailed description of individual prints.
